Airport of Ljubljana Holds 2nd Meeting of ADRIA A Project on Airport Synergies

The second meeting of the ADRIA A Project on airport synergies was held on the 26 January 2012 at the Airport of Ljubljana Jože Pučnik.

Co-organized by the CEI and the Airport of Ljubljana (Aerodrom Ljubljana), the event was attended by the main project partners in this field, i.e. CEI representatives, representatives of the three airports - Airport of Ljubljana, Airport of Venice “Marco Polo” and the Airport of Friuli Venezia Giulia, as well as of the Slovenian Ministry of Transport.

Mr. Carlo Fortuna from the CEI Secretariat introduced the topic of the event and underlined the crucial importance of connecting the three main airports of the ADRIA A area to the railway system.

In welcoming participants, Mr. Zmago Škobir, President of the Ljubljana airport, stressed the importance of the project in the future developments of multimodal transport between the main traffic generators situated in the project area.

On that occasion, the Airport of Ljubljana presented its Master Plan  which foresees the construction of a new terminal and the connection of the airport to the national railway system. In this regard, Mr. Ljubo Žerak from the Slovenian Ministry of Transport gave a technical presentation on the missing railway links and ongoing projects.
