Supported through the CEI Know-how Exchange Programme (KEP), the activities of the project entitled Krapina Zagorje County Rural Development Strategy have successfully been concluded with a final conference held on 30 June, 2011 in Zabok (Croatia).
Through its Science and Technology Network, the Central European Initiative has sponsored a Summer School on “Active and Healthy Ageing” organized by the Cluster for Biomolecular Medicine (CBM) on 11-13 July 2011 in Trieste.

On the occasion of the 24th Meeting of the BSEC Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs on 8 June in Bucharest, CEI Deputy Secretary General, Zoran Jovanovic emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding, recently signed between the CEI and the BSEC, is paving the way for future activities in strategic fields of common interest such as transport and logistics, higher education, renewable energy and science and technology.

On the occasion of the 12th International Competition for Chamber Music Ensembles “Premio Trio di Trieste”, which took place in Trieste from 23 to 28 May 2011, the CEI Award for Outstanding Performance (Euro 3.000) was assigned to the Duo Enescu (Alina Bercu and Dragos Manza) from Romania.
In the context of the CEI Research Fellowship Programme – CERES, co-funded by the EU under the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, 10 fellowships were awarded to scientist from CEI countries, namely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Poland, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia and Ukraine.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the Central European Initiative (CEI) held their annual meeting in Trieste on 10 June 2011. It was organised in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES).
The 7th Meeting of the SEETAC Project (South East European Transport Axis Cooperation) took place on 30-31 May in Trieste at the CEI premises where the steering committee discussed the new developments of the project (database collection and future transport scenarios) and planned the future technical activities.
The European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), a new European legal instrument designed to facilitate and promote cross-border cooperation, was presented on 27 May in Gorizia in the presence of Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Franco Frattini and the Mayors of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba.
CEI representatives, co-organizers of the EGTC through the ADRIA A Project (funded under the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Italy – Slovenia 2007-2013) also attended the event.
The first official technical meeting of the ATTAC Project took place in Miskolc, Hungary, on 23-26 May 2011.
Contemporary public art practice was the core issue of the fifth CEI Venice Forum for Contemporary Art Curators, organised on 1 June at the Headquarters of the UNESCO Regional Office in Venice by the "Trieste Contemporanea" Committee in cooperation with the CEI.
The Adria A Project was successfully presented at the European Parliament on 23 May in Brussels during an event co-organised by the CEI and hosted by Hon. Antonio Cancian (Member of the Transport and Tourism Committee of the European Parliament).
