CEI Secretary General at Bled Strategic Forum

CEI Secretary General, Ambassador Gerhard Pfanzelter, participated in the Bled Strategic Forum which took place on 2-3 September 2012. On that occasion, Ambassador Pfanzelter had several informal and formal meetings with a number of distinguished guests and participants.

Among these, Ambassador Pfanzelter had bilateral talks with Mr. Nikola Poposki, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia, holding the Chairmanship with the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP). In this context, the readiness for boosting cooperation between the SEECP and the CEI was underlined by the two interlocutors. Moreover, Minister Poposki informed Ambassador Pfanzelter about the priorities of Macedonia’s Chairmanship with the Process. Ambassador Pfanzelter highlighted the great support the CEI provided to the path of Macedonia towards the EU and outlined the benefits Macedonia had from the CEI funds and instruments. Finally, Minister Poposki invited Ambassador Pfanzelter for an official visit to the Republic of Macedonia.

The Bled Strategic Forum is intended to promote a high-level strategic dialogue between leaders from the private and public sectors on the key issues facing Europe and the 21st century world. It has taken place annually since 2006 in the Slovenian resort town of Bled, world-renown for its beautiful alpine lake. The aim of the Forum is to generate new strategies capable of allowing Europe to better use its strategic space and leverage, and also to attract political commitments to these strategies. In addition, the forum offers a platform for cooperation between the private and public sectors aimed at developing common integrated approaches to resolving outstanding challenges and tackling new ones.
