Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Receives CEI Secretary General

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Milan Rocen (see left) has recently received CEI Secretary General Ambassador Pfanzelter in Podgorica. The focus of the discussion between the distinguished interlocutors was the Montenegrin Presidency with the Initiative.

On that occasion, Minister Rocen stressed that Montenegro is paying great attention to the regional initiatives, underlining their importance as fundamental mechanisms for consolidating and strengthening relations in the region. He also highlighted their important role in supporting the countries of the Western Balkans in their process of moving closer to the Euro and Euro-Atlantic integration. Montenegro will continue following the lines of good-neighbourly relations, regional cooperation and reinforcing the European perspective for all the countries of the Western Balkans, said Minister Rocen. In these endeavours he also counted on a strong CEI support. He concluded by saying that the project-oriented approach of the CEI was the right instrument in meeting the objectives.   Amb. Pfanzelter expressed confidence that Montenegro, even if the youngest CEI country, will chair the Initiative with dedication and commitment. He was certain that Montenegro will achieve the priorities and planned activities throughout the year in an efficient and pragmatic manner. In this context, he assured a full support from the Secretariat. Amb. Pfanzelter, furthermore, underlined that Montenegro is a country recognised for its successful dealing with the regional issues, thus representing a model for the other countries that share the same strategic objectives.
