CONNECT2CE Project - Seminar on enhancing planning capacities of passenger trasport systems (Brussels, 13 February)
The CEI-ES is organising a transnational training in Bruxelles on 13 February entitled “Enhancing planning capacities of passenger transport systems in Central Europe”.
The event - hosted by the Presidency of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia - is organised in the framework of the project CONNECT2CE (Improved rail connections and smart mobility in Central Europe) funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme. CONNECTT2CE aims at tackling the weak accessibility of regional, peripheral and cross-border areas of Central Europe to and from the main regional, national and EU transport networks and hubs, caused by the long-lasting phenomenon of urbanisation.
The training intends to address project partners and stakeholders through a course held by representatives from EU institutions and international experts on the status of EU policy on public transport (focus to cross-border regions).
The event is envisaged as an opportunity to discuss these themes, collect feedback from participants and use it in the development of transnational tools for fostering regional and cross-border passenger transport in the Central Europe area.
The EU representatives will speak about recent EP legislative initiatives in the field of international transport and best practices and new challenges of public transport in Central Europe. Several technical experts will focus on Public Service Obligations (PSOs), Public Service Contracts (PSCs), harmonisation of multimodal timetables, regional and cross-border rail services, integrated ticketing and Info-mobility.
On 14 February the project partners will also be gathering for their Consortium Meeting.
